3 Self Love Poems to Help You Get Back Home
A short love poem for your self is always in season. Almost nothing feels as good as coming back home… as being found.
They asked her, “What is the key to saving the world?” She answered, “You. You are the key. Heal yourself, know yourself, make yourself whole and free. Release all limits so that your love can flow unconditionally for yourself and the world, this will open the heaven of your heart completely and it will guide you without fail.” — Yung Pueblo, You are the answer
Let’s start this off with an affirmation, a confident declaration of truth that I encourage you to SPEAK, out loud:
“I can be easy on myself. It is possible for me to give myself the courtesy of compassion. It is a practice, and I am willing to participate. Personal struggles are worthy of patience too. I am moving in a better direction now.”
Speak it. Keep that truth close. Nurture it as you move about in the world, seeing how you can live into it, express it, give it away, and be it.
It can be tough to be easy on yourself when you feel lost or “off,” that you’re going the wrong way or mistrusting where you’ve been. Sometimes, where we lose ourselves is where we find the truth—and the truth is always how we get to love.
“I am trusting that everyone is having the exact experience needed for their evolution and expansion, including myself.” — I Am Mantra
Loving your Self (capital S) is one of the greatest journeys. I hope these poems remind you that losing yourself is sometimes finding your Self.
3 Self Love Poems to Embrace Your Truth
I looked in the mirror.
I saw not just a face
But a reflection of my past,
Accomplishments laced with mistakes.
I saw one space
Collecting all of my fears.
I saw tears held back—
I-love-yous
Held back too.
How many years I have not known my self.
As long as it has taken to get back to you,
I would retrace every step
Just so that I could be here to say
I love you.
Because now I know the truth:
Love runs deep in the veins of the pulsing
Universe.
Love is my name, and
I’ll not soon forget who I see
When I catch my reflection
Gazing back at me.
— Self love
“I am not looking to escape my darkness. I am learning to love myself there.” — Rune Lazuli
I’m throwing away
All of my masks now
To wear only my
Soul.
I think it’s about time to get back home.
— Naked soul
“Please tell me, how can I love you better?” — Thich Nhat Hanh
“Every heart’s a hurricane,
Each soul a starlit sea,
Every mind’s a meteor
Unbound by gravity.
And everybody’s wishing
They could learn to tame their tides,
When nothing more than nature
Is what’s echoing inside.
Every life’s a lightning bolt,
Yet everyone’s told no;
Bite back all your thunder
And don’t let the wild things show.
Every heart’s a hurricane,
Everyone a world within,
Every life too short for loathing
Any storms beneath your skin.”
— e.h (Erin Hanson)

The first poem is something I needed to hear for a long time. I am struggling everyday for having put myself through a troubled time. I promise now to take care of myself. It’s not her fault.
