Affirmations for Breathing: A Sequence to Calm Down Fast

Affirmations for Breathing: A Sequence to Calm Down Fast

Let these affirmations for breathing deeply and fully reconnect you with the ancient peace (and strength) you carry in your heart.

“Breathe, darling. This is just a chapter. It’s not your whole story.” — S.C. Lourie

By controlling the breath with full inhales and long exhales, you send a vital message of safety to your brain cells which, in turn, tell your body that it’s safe to relax.

If you’re stressed, let your body help you by helping your body. Breathe intentionally for 16 seconds. Focusing only on the breath for just 16 seconds offers a respite from whatever is causing stress. It is an interruption in the cycle, a redirect in the pattern.

“Just breathe” is good advice. To help you just breathe and totally disconnect from the stressful thoughts, I shared a script of affirmations below that can be used during your intentional breathing time.

Transform however many times you need to for peace. You are allowed to change. You are allowed to breathe and begin again—over and over again.

Repeat the phrases below silently in your head while you breathe in and out.

Repeat “I am” on the inhale and the rest of the affirmation on the exhale. If you can, inhale for a count of 4 and exhale for a count of 4-8.

Once you’ve finished, you can repeat the whole script one more time out loud.

When you’ve coupled each affirmation with a full breath, return to your day or evening with intention—rich oxygen and soothing messages circulating through your system.

All in all, it should take you about one minute to feel the inward shift, but stay with your breath for as long as you like. Move slowly. Feel the life flooding you.

Affirmations for Breathing: A Sequence to Disconnect from Stress and Reconnect with Peace

I am stopping.

I am breathing.

I am balancing.

I am this breath.

I am this moment.

I am this life.

I am alive.

I am supported.

I am okay.

I am releasing resistance.

I am calming my system.

I am loving every cell.

I am absorbing love.

I am aligning my energy.

I am renewed.

I am powerful.

. . .

Tell me:

Which part of this sequence did you need the most today?

Tell me in the comments. I read every single one, and I'd love to know!

With love,

Jen

P.S. Breathe easier with my book Sleep Affirmations. It’s not just a book for bedtime. It’s a book for anytime you need more space between you and what’s stressing you out.

My intention for this week is breathing, basking and bathing in the brook of my own blissful being and this breathing affirmation was perfectly timed for my inner work practice.
