10 Things to Tell Yourself That You Probably Need to Hear

Beautiful people don’t just “still exist”—they're everywhere. To help you see them and BE one of them, tell yourself these things today. I bet your heart needs to hear them... and how revolutionary that would be, to be supported, wherever you go.

“The kindest thing you can do for yourself is to be the person you would most like to spend the rest of your life with.” — Heather K. O’Hara

I bet you already know what it’s like to tell yourself unhelpful and unsupportive things. So, let's try something different, shall we?

Tell yourself that you’re in the right place, under the right sky, doing what you need to do right now at this moment. Tell yourself about what you love, admire, and desire.

Talk to yourself like a friend would.

It's all practice.

Practice being the bedrock of your support system.

10 Helpful Things to Tell Yourself Today

1. You are connected, supported, and home.

If you’re craving a reminder of your connection to everything, look at your reflection in the night sky: You are home. You are okay. You are supposed to be here. The stars are shining reminders of your cosmic heritage.

2. Stop and be nourished.

By focusing on the small moments that feel nourishing, you feed the experiences that fill you up and make life richer. You are rich every single time you say “thank you” and mean it. You are abundant and creative just because you're alive: abundance and creativity are what brought you here; it’s in your blood.

Focus on the subtleties of what you love in the tiniest moments and you’ll remember how powerful and supported you are.

3. Go ahead, befriend yourself.

If every relationship was grounded in friendship, the world would be a brighter place. If you ground your relationship with yourself in friendship, your life will become an even greater blessing to everyone and everything in it.

Be someone who reminds someone else what love really means, which really means: be loving to yourself. Be love, in all ways.

4. You were born to live your life.

Hope says you’re worthy of living like you haven’t lived before.

You are worthy of living, of feeling alive, in all the ways you can. You are worthy of expansive awareness and unlimited experiences. You are here and so you are worthy.

5. You can say no.

In case you’re confronted with a request that your heart isn’t excited about, here’s how to say no: “Sorry, but I’ve signed a contract with the universe to live the way I want to live.” You can even leave out that “sorry” bit if you want.

6. Mine the moment for magic.

To understand life, sink into this moment. Sink into gratitude. There is so much right here, right now, that you haven’t really seen yet, haven’t really felt. You are never too lost (or too old) to open your eyes (or your heart) like it was for the first time.

“Allow yourself to transform as many times as you need to be fully happy and free.” - Yung Pueblo

7. Tend to the garden of your own heart.

Your worth isn’t something you can rationally calculate based on your experiences. It is for you to tend to, to water and watch unfold. It is too great and divine a responsibility to give someone else—they already have their own worth to tend to. Let your worth be your garden.

8. You don’t have to carry every load.

Surrendering your need to be in control of what’s not yours to control is a great exhale. After you inhale, exhale. Give yourself that break and that balance.

9. To get anywhere, be here.

The place you're standing in is not the place you need to stay forever—but you do need to be here right now, even if it’s just for right now. Be here. Stand firmly in this place.

Acceptance opens the gates so you can walk through and take your whole self with you when you do.

10. Ask for what you need.

The willingness to ask is the willingness to receive. When you communicate, you are strengthened. You may not hear an answer right away, but trust that just by asking, you open yourself up to solutions and opportunities. Let your walls crack open so some fresh air and light can pour in.

Which of these things do you need to tell yourself today?
