Elevating the mundane to the miraculous – or at least the meaningful – is one way of seeing the sacred in everything. “Sacred” is that elevation to the level of divinity, whether you believe in a higher power, the intelligence that drives life, or the miracle of existence.
The state of awe is incredibly healing.
This state involves a higher reverence for life, one that not only transcends but dives right into the details of everyday living.
Seeing the sacred in everything means you can more fully appreciate the basic beauty of being alive. The little flower, the blue sky, the way a smile leads to another smile.
Spiritual or not, you can see the world, and everything in it, as a sacred experience. Seeing life like that and yourself like that might make the planet a more magical place, if not for anyone else, for you. And this *is* your life, after all.
How Seeing the Sacred in Everything Can Heal
1. Seeing yourself as sacred:
You might actually explore your being with curiosity and amazement – all your nuanced individuality – with less care for judging.
The shadow that falls over your skin would be a reminder of your precious time here.
To exist at all is the essential miracle of life.
2. Seeing others as sacred:
Your precious time here, spent with those who share the earth with you, would be alight with your undivided attention and appreciation.
Relationships could be platforms for growth, exploration, ecstatic connection – the style of bliss that can only be shared.
“We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity.” - Paulo Coelho
3. Seeing your work as sacred:
Even work could become an extension of play and discovery, a chance to connect with the depth of what is un-manifest and consciously bring it forth into the physical realm.
It can be a vehicle for harnessing energy, expanding desire, enriching your sense of self, collaborating with others, and learning about the powers of focused attention and clarity of passion.
4. Seeing the earth as sacred:
Nature would not be outside of you, but part of you as you are part of it. You would see the earth and all of the miraculous creations it provides a home for. Even silence would be music.
Your amazement would not go a day without provocation.
