Peace on earth isn’t something you’ll see all over the news tonight, but you can feel it in your heart. And that’s where all the best changes start.

Here’s a prayer for peace from the inside out.

Read it every night to balance out the sorrow, worry, and fear. Look at it in the morning to start your day with an open heart. Read it whenever you need it.

The world needs you. We all do.

You already have what you need to create peace on earth. You already know how to love.

A Prayer for Peace on Earth

To the love that makes life possible:

Show me how to take who I am and turn it into who I want to be. Show me how to use this life of mine for a purpose greater than myself.

Remind me how to love when I’ve forgotten it’s who I am.

Help me see that peace is my function as a light of the world. And that we’re here to see each other through.

Give me the strength to be kind and patient when it’s hard and to hope when it’s dark. Teach me how to see the light that’s in everyone, including me.

Tell me there are others like me who believe in peace on earth. That I’m not alone when I pray for this. So that when all I see is sadness, suffering, and stress, I’ll know that somewhere, someone else is praying with me.

I believe there’s a thread that connects us even when everything else points to what separates us. That thread is eternal. It’s what keeps the world spinning.

And so, I choose to leave this place better than I found it. I choose to take my pain, my heartache and grief, and give back differently.

I won’t ask for forgiveness from anyone else before I’ve stood up to give.

And as I lie down to sleep tonight, I’ll pray for peace again. I’ll say, let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.

May it be so everywhere.
