Weather to Match Your Mood: A Poem About Being Understood
The right weather to match your mood: it’s like Mother Nature understands you.
Here’s a little poem/ ode to feeling your feelings (all of them) and feeling understood -- seen, heard -- when the nature around you mirrors the nature within you.
I hope you like it :)
Remember: your feelings are legitimate, just don't confuse them with who you are. You're more than the weather. You're the whole sky, and the earth too.
It’s nice when the weather matches your mood:
A flourish of wildflowers reaching for the light, the sun happy and warm on your skin;
A storm on the horizon, beauty and fury sweet on your tongue;
Leaves running in circles, not knowing which way to blow, letting themselves be led by the strange pull of the wind;
Deep pools of grief on an empty street, the air heavy like it were drowning in secret;
Standing in the shadow of a cloud, a shadow of a doubt pierced by the promise of light;
A line of every color, a fierce joy reclaiming the skies, a recurring hope you never get tired of.
. . .
My print picks for the week:
- I am grateful for the constellation of my life.
- I am free to choose the palette of my emotional sky.
- Earth beneath me. Sky above me. Water within me. Air around me. I am okay.
Tell me:
What kind of weather matches your mood today?
Tell me in the comments. I read every single one, and I’d love to know!
And remember: no, no, no, you’re not alone.
