22. “Let the beauty we love be what we do. There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground.” ― Rumi
I love this quote because it reminds me that we are vessels of love, yet we often don’t recognize that, that is who we really are already, underneath all of the pain and fear that we allow to color our lives and choices.
Yet at any moment, we can reveal that open innocence that we were born with, allowing it to surface and heal you. And choose to see that in each other, no matter how they see themselves. Its a risk only if you see yourself as finite and small, rather than eternal and one with everyone and everything.

Maria, what a beautiful comment. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience with this group of quotes. Rumi always speaks so clearly to me. “Humility is the gateway to being close to the world.” I love this. Thank you.
— Jennifer Williamson
I particularly like number 16. Or this one I picked right now, it could be another one in 5 minutes. They are all sublime. You can enter them like a path and see where it takes you. Or you can hold it very close to you, like a ring or a necklace. Something that you look at many times, and its different every time. I am a Buddhist and in Buddhism you have the Brahma Viharas to which I always like to add humility for myself. It is something that in our success driven culture does not get much attention. Humility is the gateway to being close to the world.

SaraBeth, I’m sorry, but this was the only version I could find from my research!
