2021 Resolution: Take Care of Your Life
This is about taking responsibility for your life.
A tall order, I know, but I'm a fan of starting with a simple idea and letting it evolve from there.
I believe in letting yourself evolve. I believe in staying close to what you love and figuring out the details along the way.
Considering how last year went, I think we should take this year one step at a time.
I think our resolutions should be a little more... human.
I also think that life is all about the choices you make.
You choose how you respond to the things that happen around you.
You control your perspective and how you treat other people. You get to pick what's meaningful — to you. You'll have your own definition of happiness, and success.
You see in the world what you carry in your heart.
One heartbeat at a time, you make and remake the details of your existence, which means this is a perfect time to take better care of your life.
You're in the right place, right now, to focus on what's important to you.
Here's my example of what it means this year to improve a little bit at a time. These are my goals, intentions, an outline — a manifesto of sorts.
You? You might have a mantra for 2021 you want to live by. You could pick a word or two to guide your choices. You could do what I did and make a list of the essentials: what you know will make a difference in your life.
For me, it's a whole lot of going back to the basics. (I think there are times in life when that's an important thing to do.)
I hope it inspires you to learn more about yourself this year, to trust yourself more, and lean into the life you really want, one you're proud of.
I hope it inspires you to find and claim your place in this world, however small and sacred it may be, however long you've been here.
I hope it inspires you to reconsider what's in your heart, to rethink how you spend your time, and to make more room for what makes you come alive.
